A COMMUNITY, NOT JUST A PUB
When Jeff Harrison and Ali Gage saw, what had been an old Indian Restaurant in Long Buckby, they knew that they could turn it into something quite unique. They’d longed for a pub that they really wanted to go to. A pub that had great local ales and ciders, that were always changing, so every time you went in you got to taste new and interesting brews. Somewhere with a great community feel where everyone is welcome and there was no noisy music to interrupt conversations about “putting the World to rights”. A place which felt safe, like home.
THE BADGERS ARMS was born in December 2017...
AWARDS AND ACCOLADES
NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CAMRA PUB OF THE SUMMER SEASON 2018
NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CAMRA CIDER PUB OF THE YEAR 2019
CIDER PUB OF THE YEAR FOR THE EAST MIDLANDS 2019
The Badger bit of the name, came from an old nickname of Jeff’s and the Arms bit relates to the couples love of English Civil War re-enactment as Musketeers in the Sealed Knot (yes, they actually dress up and shoot at people in a field for fun). The Badger pub sign, designed by Ali, shows a Badger wearing the uniform of Col. John Pickering’s Regiment of Foote!
QUALITY AND RESEARCH
One of the key pointers to the success of The Badgers Arms is that Jeff and Ali have made good friends with the makers of the ales and ciders that it sells…they insist on visiting all the breweries and cideries that they deal with, and shake the hand of those who make all these wonderful brews. Also the beer comes straight out of the barrel to the glass…no pipes to take away or taint the flavours.
The Badgers Arms has another thing going for it, Ali’s love of gin. The Badgers has had well over 100 different gins on its shelves since opening. Ali scours the internet for the new and adventurous tastes that will excite her discerning customers.
THE BOTTLE SHOP
The Badgers Bottle Shop has been an interesting set up. Due to the terrible Corvid 19 pandemic and pubs closing, Jeff and Ali felt that they must do something to try and save The Badgers so that its customers can come back and enjoy “Their pub” again when things return to normality, whatever that might look like in the future.
Using the downstairs snug of the pub, Jeff and Ali have brought together an amazing, and somewhat personal collection of beers, lagers, ciders and gins, both local and worldwide to its customers.
Come on in and find something you like…..Enjoy everyone
Jeff and Ali xx
